Igniting the power of resilience in our youth

U MATTER is dedicated to improving psycho-social health among Tanzanian youth.

Our mission is to empower young individuals through strength-based approaches that enhance resilience and decrease vulnerability. We aim to nurture a positive self-image, promote well-being, and cultivate cultures of kindness across families, communities, youth groups, and places for education and leisure. This is how we can become the best version of ourselves and lead a productive life.

Sports and Entrepreneurship

Every individual has inherent worth and contributes uniquely to their community. We strive to ensure each young person knows that they matter and their voice is important.

We are passionate about developing Tanzanian youth in leadership, sports, and entrepreneurship. We believe these are key themes for intervention and positive change.

Social Work: Strengths-Based Solutions

Our social work promotes a strengths-based approach, focusing on individuals’ inherent resilience and personal growth. Instead of emphasizing problems, we enhance positive attributes to foster feelings of value and empowerment.

Our unique method shifts the narrative around mental health, viewing societal challenges as opportunities for self-improvement. This commitment guides us towards our goal: a Tanzanian society where every individual knows they truly matter.

We aim to foster an environment where mental health can be openly discussed, understood, and addressed without prejudice or fear.

Recognizing that mental health issues often begin internally and gradually impact relationships, we provide access to effective solutions to prevent these challenges from escalating.

Our proactive approach focuses on building resilience, promoting a positive self-image, and instilling a culture of kindness, making sure every young individual knows they truly matter.

Staying ahead of mental well-being

We believe in a proactive rather than reactive approach to mental health. Rather than just fixing problems as they arise, we aim to strengthen individuals to prevent these problems in the first place.

Eradicating stigma and enhancing psycho-social health, is only possible by fostering an environment of safety, understanding and openness, positivity and growth, where mental health issues can be freely discussed without fear or prejudice. We aim to enable everyone to be well and do good work by feeling that your truly matter.

We understand that people need ongoing support, and so we aim to provide a one-to-one mentoring program, from very highly qualified U MATTER Tz staff for those who feel this would help them be the best version of themselves.
